Specific metabolic pathways occur based on the certain position in a eukaryotic cell and the importance of the metabolic pathways in the particular compartment of the cell. For example, oxidative phosphorylation, citric acid cycle, electron transport chain happens in the mitochondrial membrane (Campbell, Farrell, McDougal, 2016). On the other hand, fatty acid biosynthesis, glycolysis and pentose phosphate pathway take place in the cytosol of a cell (Voet, Voet, W, 2013). This paper has highlighted the Matcol tool, MEME Suite, development of viral diseases drug and GT-Scan as some of the breakthroughs in the application of bioinformatics. Although some of these applications are still in the trial stage, they are fundamental in setting the ground for major achievements through bioinformatics. Being myself guilty of such far too often, it’s refreshing to read a collection of articles that tries to challenge one out of their apathy and into becoming better readers. While reading these articles, I learned much about reading, thinking, and writing; and that is the joy in reading, it makes me understand it better, and I can relate to some of the struggles the characters were going through. Sometimes I wish I were more interested in activities that are good for me, for example, reading books. I do like some books, but when it gets a little boring, I completely lose focus and struggle to concentrate again. In the article, â€Å"The Lonely Good Company of Books,† the character states that he trembles when he comes upon whole shelves of books he has not read. When you are reading, but really reading between lines, you make connection with the text and relate to the struggles. In â€Å"The Lonely, Good Company of Books† by Richard Rodriguez, I relate to him because at first, when he was younger, his parents would always tell him not to write on books, and that’s just like me. I never wrote on them because it would look messy and I didn’t like that at all, but now I am trying to change my ways and learn how to write on it because I know it will help me engage with what it will help me engage with what I am reading better. These articles helped me realize the importance of critical reading; not only to more clearly understand the messages an author might want discovered, but to truly be immersed in their stories, to feel real compassion for characters that may not even exist; to truly know their struggles.

The Plague by Albert Camus The novel that I chose to do this report on was, "The Plague", by Albert Camus. It is about a plague that hit the European countries in the middle ages. I chose to describe the literary term of parallelism. Here are some following facts about the story's plot that involve parallelism through the novel. The novel begins at Oran where the plague becomes known. The main character, Dr. Gernard Rieux, is a doctor. In the beginning of the story he finds a dead rat on the floor. Even in those times rats were not found dead on the middle of the floor. This was unusual, but he threw out the rat and forgot about it. Eventually the dead rats began to pile into large masses and burned. Soon after there were some people that got very sick, which made Mr. Rieux very curious. These reports of these ill people and the death of the rats were the beginning of the parallelism for this story. Since Bernard was a doctor he was the first to actually attempt to help one of these sick people. Michael was hi s first patient in this matter. He was the sickest person that the doctor had ever seen. Michael was pale white and vomited often, he hurt so much from the vomiting that he seemed paralyzed. Mr. Rieux tried to help the man the best that he could, but he ended up dying. Michael was the first person to die of this illness. After his death, many cases of this illness were reported widespread. Again more details of sickness and death, this is the parallelism for this novel. As the reports of sickness and death came to inform Dr. Rieux, he tried to comfort and cure the plagued patients. About ninety percent of the people infected had died. He wanted a stop to this plague. Quickly he linked the rats with the people. He knew that the rats began to get sick before the people did. At this time many people had the plague, except for the Chinese visitors. They never were infected. As the plot moves on death, sickness and the plague are still relevant. He studied their behaviors and everyday tasks and learned that they do something that was never often done in these middle ages. Not many people in these days bathed. The doctor began to notice that the people that bathed never got sick. So he asked all of his, still living patients, to take baths frequently. This proved to be the miracle cure for the people. The doctor asked his other fellow doctors to follow the same practice with their patients. The word was spread and the plague was soon wiped out. So as you can see, the literary term of parallelism was deemed very relevant through the ongoing plot. Death, sickness, and the plague epresented the story's parallelism. Albert Camus made parallelism the main literary term for this novel, given away by the title, "The Plague."

The role of women in criminal justice often depicts women as the victims in order to keep in place the ideologies of women being subordinate, feeble, and unable to take care of themselves against their aggressor. Women are not only victimized women also play roles of the offenders and criminal justice professionals contrary to popular belief. Although women have made strives to progress they still represent lowest line of sworn in officers Women are very versatile in their involvement with the criminal justices system. It is also important for us a as society to understand that women are major functions in the criminal justice system although their isnt an enormous amount of literature about it. Women are represented in every dimension of the criminal justice system. The depictions of women in the media are influential factors for women who have chosen this male dominated work force. The traditional role of women being housewives and mothers have in some ways hindered the process of them becoming a dominant work force in the field of corrections. Women As Police Officers In film it is very noticeable how women are depicted as helpless or are in need of some type of assistance from her male counterpart. In the Hale article about women in videos the treatment of women tends to be a social control. It romanticizes the way women and men are especially in uniform. For example the man is usually the hero in the film usually he rescues the woman. The scenario hardly ever plays in the other direction. I personally cant think of one movie were a woman police officer rescues the male police officer. A woman saving a man would challenge our societal ideologies of women being weak and feeble. I had the a discussion with three women officers, they were all troopers and one was even a captain and this article really elaborated on the discussion that I had with these women. The article really got into the nuts and bolts of women as criminal justice professionals and it also was very informative when it discussed the hierarchical role of women as police officers the se women that I spoke with were very clear about the harassment and isolation on the job. In the article I think the emotional trauma that the author was speaking are direct results of the harassment and isolation that many women officers face while on the job. The portrayal of women as not being able to do the job is a justification of treating women so poorly on the job, when the sad truth is in many instances their male counterparts want them to fail in order to assert their male dominance. Women police officers in theory have the same protections as their male counterparts, however this is a claim that can be disputed. Women do not have the protection against the images that are presented in the media. The images that make these women more likely to be taken for granted by society at large. In videos as well as in society it is a natural practice trying to label things to make since of it. In this article I think this claim is justified when we see the woman police officer and w e label her a dyke or lesbian. If the media throws these types of images into films and video society tends to think that these women are outside of the norm, their norm being, (heterosexual/straight) females. If we can tag a label on to these women its almost saying well its wrong to be a woman police officer but it is okay for these women because they are out of the norms of society. She is smart, beautiful, single, sexy, who is shy? She is the female attorney. Often depicted by the media as the worlds brightest and most endearing person.
